A Chat And A Giggle

Hello There!
I'm taking today's post just to share some thoughts I've been having and just to randomly chat... Enjoy :)

Cockhedge Shopping Centre

Ok, so the first thing I wanted to share is this picture. I pass this shopping centre almost every day and it never fails to make me smile :)

But it does make me think - do they not think about their names? Like, I can't think of anyone who would say 'yeah that sounds like a great name for a shopping centre, nobody will make fun of that...' Or is it meant to be a joke, do they think - we'll make people happy because they'll laugh at the sign. If that is the case it's a pretty good idea cos let's face it, I'm not going to forget the name of it any time soon!

In other news, I've been at my grandmother's a lot recently and she has the channel Comedy Central - something which I can't get on my regular Freeview TV. And I can watch F.R.I.E.N.D.S on it!!!! Yay! I didn't realise how much I've missed this programme from my life. It's sooooo funny. I've watched all the episodes at least a million times (FACT), and they're still not old. I still burst out laughing at all the jokes. I've especially missed Joey and Ross from my life. So much so I've decided I'm going to buy the boxset - something which I didn't have to do when they were on E4. I honestly don't understand how E4 thought it'd be a good idea to sell the rights to the show. Every person I know watched FRIENDS regularly on E4... :(

Phew.Rant over.
At least I'm getting a regular dose of it at the moment. Happy Grace.

What's been making you smile recently? Any funny place names near you?
Let me know in a comment - share the laughter!

Technological Thursday | Get Rid Of ALL Ads & Pop-Ups On Chrome, Firefox, Android, Opera

Hello There!

It's Technological Thursday Again. 70% of the people that view my blog use Google Chrome to view it. As do I. So today my technological tip is about blocking the adverts on browsers (especially chrome).

This was one of my biggest bug-bears. I can't stand adverts popping up left right and centre. And when I got chrome I had to resign myself to living with adverts in order to get a faster browser. So I was stuck

Don't get me wrong, I tried to block them. The tips from Chrome are to turn on the pop-up-blocker. Except it doesn't block any pop-ups. Or, the amount that they do block makes no difference. So for 2 years I was constantly infuriated by the bombardment of adverts every time I click on a link.

And then my saviour came. Hallelujah. I learned about Adblock Plus.
It is an extension that you put on your browser with a click  and of a button, and just forget about because you're now ad free and you don't have to do anything else!

And it is A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.

I have been ad-free for 6 months now. And I've never been happier!
Ok, so maybe that's an over-reaction to a Chrome Extension, but if you have been plagued by the same infuriation, then you'll totally understand where I'm coming from.

And actually, this is available for other web browsers as well - Opera, Android & Firefox
Available HERE for all these browsers.

I hope this post has helped with anyone out there who wants to be ad-free.
It literally changed my life :)

Happy Technological Thursday

Motivational Mantra of the Month | May 2013

Hello there!

A new month - a new mantra.
I've decided to do a mantra every Wednesday for May and June, especially for those taking exams in the coming months. But they'll also be useful as an everyday approach to life.
(Which is how I use them at the moment)

And this really is true. Even if you have an amazing talent, if you don't put the work in , you won't get the results that you deserve. This was my art teacher's motto. She'd read it in a fortune cookie and made a poster for the wall. Every time I was a little down about my work, comparing it to other peoples, she'd point to the sign. After a while, I had to ask her - which am I, hard-working or talented? She said: "You're a bit of both Grace, you'll be fine".  A* GCSE later, I decided that she must've been right.

That faith from my teacher really kept me calm in the exam - so good luck to those who are doing exams this month - you'll do fine don't worry.
I have faith in you!

And to everyone else - I hope this motivates you, if you put the work in now, you'll have less to do later (I know it's easier said than done...). It'll be over before you know it!
